The young Simon had always shown musical promise. At age 4 he sang with his dad on the “Sesame Street” children’s TV show. He also attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Now, at 37, the son of one of America’s best known singer-songwriters has finally released his first album. Читать далее »

On October 13th Harper Simon, the son of musician Paul Simon and Paul’s first wife, Peggy Harper, will release his self-titled debut album on his own Tulsi Records.

He produced the album as well. For his debut Harper enlisted legendary producer Bob Johnston (Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen) to help him put together a band for a series of recording sessions in Nashville.

The band included Charlie McCoy (Bob Dylan’s ‘Blonde on Blonde’, ‘Nashville Skyline’) pedal steel player Lloyd Green (The Byrds ‘Sweetheart of the Rodeo’), drummer Gene Chrisman (Dusty in Memphis) bass player Mike Leech (Elvis Presley’s ‘Suspicious Minds’), pianist Hargus “Pig” Robbins, (Patsy Cline’s ‘Walkin’ After Midnight’, ‘Blonde on Blonde’) and Al Perkins (‘Exile on Main Street’).

“Working with Bob Johnston and all those Nashville session guys from the 60’s was completely fascinating and totally satisfying,” recalls Harper in his bio posted on Myspace. “The musicianship was extraordinary; their attitude towards me was so supportive. It was very special.”

One of the tracks from the album is available now.
